What is WWOOF Bulgaria
WWOOF Bulgaria, World Wide Opportunities on Organic farms, is a non-profit organisation creating opportunities for volunteers on organic farms in Bulgaria. Membership to WWOOF Bulgaria is free to both Volunteers and Hosts.
What are the aims?
- To get first hand experience of organic farming & gardening and to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
- To get into the countryside and experience Bulgaria and its people.
- To help the organic movement, which is often labour intensive and does not rely on artificial fertilizers & pesticides.
- To make contact with other people in the organic movement.
- To have a wonderful enriching experience in rural living.
- To enable people from all over the world to have a cultural exchange with Bulgarian people.
A brief history of WWOOF
WWOOF is a coordinating service, bringing together travellers who are seeking to explore new cultures and gain experience in organic growing and other rural activities, with host farms/families. WWOOF organisations exist around the world, beginning in Britain almost 30 years ago and now in Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, New Zealand, Italy, Germany, Austria and many other countries. This is the first year we have provided this service in Bulgaria and we hope to give this service for many years to come.
WWOOFing is a unique cultural exchange in that travellers of all ages can visit communities throughout Bulgaria and experience, for a short while, real life on a farm or a rural village. WWOOFers gain from the opportunities to learn about rural life, organic and other sustainable growing techniques as well as being in a family situation. Our hosts express delight and appreciation for the help they receive and the pleasure of sharing their passion for organic growing with enthusiastic visitors.
